Picsquare is a good case of “necessity is mother of innovation”. When Manish was in US he wanted to send photos to his parent in India. Like most of other parents in India his parents didn’t want to receive the photo online. When he returned back to India he teamed up with Kartik and identified that there is an opportunity to fulfill the need and hence started Picsquare which allow users to send photos to anywhere in India from anywhere in world. Both the founders are engineering graduates from IIT Bombay. Kartik before starting Picsquare, worked with Astrazeneca as IT consultant. Manish did his Masters from Purdue University and worked with a startup company. Picsquare has experienced board of advisors who are actively involved with the young management team and helping them in shaping up the company.
Picsquare is the first company selected under the TiE-EAP program – a TiE Bangalore initiative for creating ecosystem and supporting young startups. The EAP program has provided Picsquare team mentoring support, networking opportunities and with the help of this program Picsquare got seed funding from angel investors. http://www.tiebangalore.org/eap_home.html Picsquare has an interesting business model and is confident that it will help in making it a huge success. Unlike most of the web startups there is a clearly defined and working revenue model. The company doesn’t make money from ads instead make money when customers get real value – when they order for prints.
