Maharashtra Sojourns – II

Sitting here in the hotel lobby on a hot Sunday in Pune, I am getting ready to leave for the city’s domestic airport to catch my flight for Delhi. It has been a refreshing experience and indeed fun to be here once again! The stay has been memorable and it is such a nice feeling to catch up with friends and the known ones. Over the last three days we went to Mahabaleshwar, Shirdi, Lonavala & Khandala.

Its sad to miss-out the Christmas party organized in the office but whatever happens is for the good.

I’ve had discussions at various levels with the city residents out here. Now that includes, the juice seller up in the city of Shani Shignapur, the government official in Balewadi to the IT manager working for a MNC in Pune Infotech Park, Hinjewadi.

Changing Trends (consolidated from everyone)

  • Wi-Fi has become a common thing out here in Pune. Be it the hotel lobby I am in or M.G. road or PMC’s office – you’d find geeks and netizens with their laptops all around
  • 2008 appears to be very promising for the IT hub of India as close to 100 companies are geared to open their shops in India
  • Pune has had undergone a subtle transition since 2000 with influx of students coming in from all parts of the country especially Delhi and J & K.
  • The average villager in the state of Maharashtra has been making a conscious effort to discover various way to earn his bread.

Well that’s about it for now as I’ve to rush to the airport slightly early than routine in a bid to beat Pune’s traffic. However, I do promise to come back tomorrow to give you insight on other interesting stuff that has been happening around the world 🙂
